Your condenser is the large unit on the outside of your home. It works by pulling the hot air and moisture to the outside of the house giving you comfort inside the home.

Your HVAC system will not overheat. Different manufacturers have different safety settings, and every unit has many safety devices to ensure overheating does not occur. Typically, around 130-150 degrees in your furnace would trigger an automatic shut off of the unit. Overheating usually occurs due to an issue elsewhere in the system.

We recommend pleated filters that are a Merv 8 or above. A good test on a new filter is to add sugar to the top and shake it to determine how many particles are getting through that filter. This is a visual representation of the small particles getting into your air using that filter! These particles would also begin collecting on the coil of your system and end up causing bigger issues down the road. We even encourage an upgrade from the standard 1 inch filter to a 5 inch filter, catching even smaller particles in your air. These 5 inch filters start at Merv 16.

Your HVAC system can freeze on occasion. This would typically be due to lack of maintenance like; dirty filters, restricted air flow, low refrigerant or general uncleanliness in the unit itself.

Your homes HVAC system works to condition the inside of your home to your specified temperature. Your condenser pulls hot air from outside and turns it into cool air to fill your home, while your furnace pulls cool air and heats it to keep you warm inside your house.

The HVAC Compressor is the heart of your unit. It allows the refrigerant to move through and change states entering and exiting the system.

An HVAC Zoning system allows different areas or “zones” of your house to be set to different temperatures. This helps the efficiency of your system by only using energy on the areas that need more air.

Your HVAC system is actually designed to pull moisture out of the air. When your air is pulled across the coil in your system it will catch moisture according to your thermostats humidity setting. During the summer months typically, you will be pulling more moisture out of the air. Conversely during the winter months, you would want more humidity to combat the dry air from the furnace.

An HVAC dampers purpose is to restrict or expand the flow of air. Here at A&T Mechanical we have manual dampers as well as electrical dampers to help provide or close off air to certain areas of your home.

We love HVAC maintenance plans. We are able to send out our senior technicians to keep your HVAC system running at peak efficiency which not only helps keep you comfortable but, saves you money on your monthly bill. We are also able to spot small issues or problems with your system before they turn into bigger headaches. The best part is we get to see you every 6 months!

UV lights for your HVAC system can be very worth it when installed in the correct position in the system. The intense UV light helps kill bacteria and germs that may form on your evaporator coil which goes through your entire system and into the air you breathe.

The simple answer is, yes. HVAC systems have a safety code to follow which has been changed for 2025. The new systems will be more environmentally friendly as well as have an upgraded refrigerant. Along with these changes, more safety checks come into play to safeguard your system.

Air purifiers serve to help eliminate particles in the air by making them easier for your air filter to catch. Our Ionizer helps reduce bacteria, germs, and viruses as well as any unwanted smells you may have in your home.
